Data Handling
How customer data is handled during repair, upgrade, transfer, firmware work and refurbishing.
Customer Responsibility
Customers should back up important data before repair where possible. If the device cannot be backed up because of the fault, the data priority should be clearly stated on the intake form.
Access
Device access is requested only where needed for diagnosis, testing, repair, data transfer or setup. Customers should not provide unnecessary passwords or sensitive information unless specifically requested for the agreed work.
Data Transfer
Data transfer is limited by the condition of the source drive and may not be possible from failing, encrypted, damaged or corrupted drives. Specialist data recovery may require referral to a dedicated recovery provider.
Data Wiping For Refurbished Devices
Devices prepared for resale should be wiped, reinstalled and tested before sale. A wipe or refurb test record should be kept where practical.
Confidentiality
Customer files are not intentionally viewed beyond what is necessary to complete the agreed service. Any accidental exposure of sensitive data should be treated confidentially.
